In June, unemployment rates were lower in 10 states and the District of Columbia,
higher in 2 states, and stable in 38 states. Nonfarm payroll employment increased
in 13 states, decreased in 2 states, and was essentially unchanged in 35 states
and the District.
June jobless rates down over the year in 388 of 389 metro areas; payroll jobs up in 129
Jobless rates were lower in June than a year earlier in 388 of the 389 metropolitan areas
and higher in 1 area. Nonfarm payroll employment increased over the year in 129 metropolitan
areas and was essentially unchanged in 260.
Jobless rates down in 49 states in 2021; employment-population ratios up in 38 states
Annual average unemployment rates decreased in 49 states and the District of Columbia in 2021,
while the rate was little changed in 1 state. Employment-population ratios increased in 38
states and the District, decreased in 1 state, and were little changed in 11 states.
