Prices for U.S. exports rose 4.5 percent in March 2022

Prices for U.S. exports rose 4.5 percent in March 2022 following a 3.0-percent rise in February and a 2.8-percent increase in January. All three advances were the largest monthly increases since 1-month percent changes were first published in January 1989.

Higher prices for both agricultural and nonagricultural exports in March contributed to the overall rise in U.S. export prices. The price index for agricultural exports rose 4.7 percent in March, the largest monthly advance since May 2021. Nonagricultural export prices rose 4.5 percent in March, after 3.0-percent and 2.7-percent increases the 2 previous months.

U.S. export prices advanced 18.8 percent over the past year, the largest over-the-year increase since 12-month percent changes were first published in September 1984.
