Nevada retail trade employment more than doubles since April 1990

From April 1990 to April 2018, retail trade employment in Nevada more than doubled, from 66,500 to 146,200. Over that period, retail trade employment nearly doubled in Utah, from 88,100 to 174,100. Arizona, Idaho, Colorado, and Washington also experienced increases in retail trade employment that were greater than 50 percent.

In April 1990, retail trade employment in Texas and Florida was 902,000 and 779,900, respectively. As of April 2018, retail trade employment in both states reached over 1 million. This represented an increase of over 40 percent for each state over that period.

From April 1990 to April 2018, Connecticut experienced the largest decrease in retail trade employment with a decrease of 8.8 percent. The District of Columbia (−8.7 percent) and Michigan (−6.4 percent) also experienced decreases that were greater than 5 percent.
