Beyond basic benefits

Since the late 1970s, the Bureau of Labor Statistics has collected data on employee access to various employer-provided benefits beyond the basics of health insurance, retirement savings, and vacation, sick and holiday leave.
For example, in the 1981 Employee Benefits Survey bulletin, a number of these benefits were published as "other benefits," which covered benefits as disparate as paid funeral leave, subsidized meals, and employee parking.
The chart shows the percent of workers in private industry with access to some of the "other benefits" in March 2008.
