Self-employment in 2016

Farmers and ranchers are projected to have the highest levels of self-employment in 2016. According to BLS projections, close to a million persons are expected to be working as self-employed farmers and ranchers that year.

Self-employment is also expected to be common in business, service, and other types of occupations. The ten occupations projected to have the most self-employed workers in 2016 are shown in the chart.
