NOTE: Data are counts of jobs by place of work. Estimates subsequent to the current benchmark are provi-
sional and will be revised when new information becomes available. Area definitions are based on Office of
Management and Budget Bulletin No. 08-01, dated November 20, 2007, and are available at http://www.bls.gov/
lau/lausmsa.htm. Areas in the six New England states are Metropolitan New England City and Town Areas
(NECTAs), while areas in other states are county-based. Some metropolitan areas lie in two or more states.
They are listed under the state that appears first in their titles. Some divisions lie in more than one
state, and some, like Camden, N.J., are totally outside the states under which their metropolitan areas
are listed. Data reflect the conversion to the 2007 version of the North American Industry Classification
System (NAICS) as the basis for the assignment and tabulation of economic data by industry, replacing NAICS
2002. For more details, see http://www.bls.gov/sae/saenaics07.htm.
