Lights, Camera, Action! Georgia leads in job growth for motion picture and video industries

Georgia led the nation in jobs gained in motion picture and video industries from 2011 to 2021, with an increase of 15,611. Another 11 states added a combined 8,297 jobs over this time, including Louisiana (1,685), Texas (1,651), Tennessee (1,455), and Utah (1,275).

Motion picture and video industries employment declined from 2011 to 2021 in 33 states and the District of Columbia. The largest declines were in Michigan (−2,529), California (−1,962), and Minnesota (−1,739). Nationwide, employment in the motion picture and video industries group edged down 0.4 percent over this time.
