In February 2018, unemployment rates declined over the month in 7 states and were unchanged in 43 states and the District of Columbia. Over the year ending in February, unemployment rates declined in 15 states and were unchanged in 35 states and the District of Columbia.

Hawaii had the lowest unemployment rate in February (2.1 percent), while the rates for California (4.3 percent), Maine (2.9 percent), Mississippi (4.5 percent), and Wisconsin (2.9 percent) set new lows for these data series. At 7.3 percent, Alaska had the highest jobless rate among the states in February.
