Prices for U.S. exports up 3.8 percent over year ended April 2018

The price index for U.S. exports increased 3.8 percent over the year ended April 2018, the largest 12-month increase since November 2011. Prices for transportation equipment exports, which account for 18.1 percent of U.S. exports, increased 1.6 percent over the past year.

Prices for computer and electronic product exports, which account for 14.1 percent of exports, increased 1.6 percent over the past year. Prices for chemical exports, which make up 13.4 percent of exports, increased 4.8 percent.

Petroleum and coal product export prices increased 19.1 percent, and mining product export prices increased 15.5 percent.

Export prices for agricultural, forestry, fishing and hunting goods increased 1.8 percent over the April 2017–April 2018 period.
