Maricopa, Arizona, had the largest percentage employment gain (2.8 percent) among the 10 largest U.S. counties from June 2017 to June 2018. Among the major industries in Maricopa, construction experienced the largest percentage increase in employment over that period (7.1 percent). Trade, transportation, and utilities had the largest over-the-year employment increase with a gain of 10,775 jobs, or 2.9 percent.

All of the 10 largest counties had over-the-year percentage increases in employment from June 2017 to June 2018. Within natural resources and mining, the largest 12-month percentage gains in employment were in Dallas, Texas (15.2 percent), and New York, New York (14.1 percent). Over that period, the largest percentage decreases in employment in natural resources and mining were in Los Angeles, California (−18.7 percent) and Orange, California (−6.5 percent).

In June 2018, King, Washington, experienced the largest 12-month percentage increase in information employment among the 10 largest counties (7.6 percent). Within that industry, Harris, Texas, experienced the largest percentage decrease in employment (−3.5 percent).
