Fuel import prices up 13.2 percent, October 2016 to October 2017

U.S. import prices increased 2.5 percent for the year ended in October 2017. Over the year ending October 2016, import prices decreased 0.2 percent. Prices for fuel imports increased 13.2 percent over the recent 12-month period, compared with 3.1 percent over the earlier 12-month period.

The price index for nonfuel imports rose 1.4 percent over the past 12 months, the largest over-the-year increase since a 2.0-percent increase for the year ended March 2012.

The price index for exports increased 2.7 percent over the year ended October 2017. Agricultural export prices increased 3.5 percent over the past year. The price index for nonagricultural exports increased 2.5 percent.
