CPI rose 2.4 percent over the 12 months ending March 2017

From March 2016 to March 2017, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) all items index rose 2.4 percent. This was smaller than the 2.7-percent rise for the year ending February 2017. The index for all items less food and energy rose 2.0 percent over the past year, the smallest 12-month increase since November 2015. The energy index rose 10.9 percent over the year, while the food index increased 0.5 percent.
