Average weekly wages among largest counties, third quarter 2015 to third quarter 2016

The U.S. average weekly wage increased 5.4 percent from the third quarter of 2015 to the third quarter of 2016, growing to $1,027. Among counties with 75,000 or more jobs in 2015, Clark, Nevada, had the largest percentage increase in average weekly wages (12.2 percent) over the year. The largest contribution to the county's increase was a gain of $151, or 24.0 percent, in average weekly wages in leisure and hospitality.

Rockland, New York, experienced the largest percentage decrease in average weekly wages among the largest counties, with a loss of 14.9 percent over the year. The largest contribution to the county's decrease was a loss of $2,912, or 63.6 percent, in average weekly wages in manufacturing. Other counties with an over-the-year decrease in average weekly wages were Lafayette, Louisiana; Benton, Arkansas; Lake, Illinois; and Midland, Texas.
