Unemployment rate in Yuma, Arizona down 3.8 percentage points over the year ended September 2016

In September 2016, 224 metropolitan areas had unemployment rates that decreased over the year, 22 had no change, and 141 areas had unemployment rates that increased. The largest 12-month decrease in the unemployment rate among metropolitan areas occurred in Yuma, Arizona (−3.8 percentage points). El Centro, California (−2.3 percentage points) and New Bedford, Massachusetts (−2.2 percentage points) were the only other areas that had unemployment rate decreases of more than 2 percentage points.

The largest over-the-year rate increases occurred in Casper, Wyoming (+1.9 percentage points) and Erie, Pennsylvania (+1.8 points). Over the year, 13 metropolitan areas had unemployment rate increases of at least 1 percentage point, 19 areas had rate decreases of 1 percentage point or more.
