Producer Price Index for final demand decreased 1.0 percent for the year ended December 2015

The Producer Price Index for final demand decreased 1.0 percent from December 2014 to December 2015. This was the eleventh consecutive 12-month decrease. The index for final demand goods decreased 3.7 percent, led by a 16.2-percent decline in prices for final demand energy.

For the year ended December 2015, the index for final demand services increased 0.4 percent. The index for trade services, which measures changes in the margins wholesalers and retailers receive, increased 0.2 percent. Prices for transportation and warehousing services decreased 3.4 percent, the tenth straight 12-month decrease.
