Producer Price Index for final demand decreases over the year for the fourth consecutive month

From May 2014 to May 2015, the Producer Price Index for final demand decreased 1.1 percent. The index has now decreased for the fourth consecutive month. The index for final demand goods fell 4.3 percent, led by a 19.5-percent decline in prices for final demand energy.

Prices for final demand services increased 0.6 percent from May 2014 to May 2015. The index for trade services, which measures changes in the margins wholesalers and retailers receive, increased 0.5 percent. Prices for transportation and warehousing services decreased 2.3 percent, the fourth straight 12-month decrease.
