Private employer costs for pay and benefits rose 1.9 percent from June 2014 to June 2015

Private employer costs for pay and benefits increased 1.9 percent from June 2014 to June 2015. That was about the same as the increase from June 2013 to June 2014. Wages and salaries increased 2.2 percent from June 2014 to June 2015.

Employer costs for benefits rose 1.4 percent from June 2014 to June 2015. That was lower than the 2.4-percent increase from June 2013 to June 2014. Employer costs for health benefits increased 2.8 percent from June 2014 to June 2015, about the same as in the previous 12-month period.

The 12-month increases in employer costs for health benefits ranged from 2.1 to 3.0 percent from March 2012 to June 2015. That compares with increases ranging from 3.4 to 5.2 percent from 2006 to 2011. From 2001 to 2005, increases in employer health benefits costs ranged from 6.3 to 11.4 percent.
