Producer Price Index for Finished Goods, 12-month percent change, November 2008–November 2009, not seasonally adjusted
[Chart data]

Over the month, the Producer Price Index for Finished Goods rose 1.8 percent in November, following a 0.3-percent advance in October and a 0.6-percent decrease in September.

About three-fourths of the November advance in the finished goods index can be traced to higher prices for energy goods, which jumped 6.9 percent. The indexes for finished goods less foods and energy and for finished consumer foods also contributed to the finished goods increase, both rising 0.5 percent.

These data are from the BLS Producer Price Index program. To learn more, see “Producer Price Indexes—November 2009” (HTML) (PDF), news release USDL 09-1531. All producer price indexes are routinely subject to revision once, 4 months after original publication, to reflect the availability of late reports and corrections by respondents.
