The Injuries, Illnesses, and Fatalities (IIF) program provides annual information on the incidence rate and number of work-related injuries, illnesses, and fatal injuries, and how these statistics vary by incident, industry, geography, occupation, and other characteristics. The Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses (SOII) is an establishment-based survey used to estimate incidence rates and counts of workplace injuries and illnesses. It also provides detailed case and demographic data for cases that involve 1 or more days away from work (DAFW).
Beginning in 2023, data for days of job transfer and restriction (DJTR) are available for all industries. These detailed estimates for DAFW and DJTR will be released biennially to capture detailed information, with the first set released in November 2023, including cases from reference years 2021 and 2022. The schedule for SOII industry estimates will remain unchanged.
The Handbook of Methods also provides information on the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI), available at https://www.bls.gov/opub/hom/cfoi/home.htm. CFOI collects and publishes a complete count of work-related fatal injuries and descriptive data on their circumstances.
