Handbook of Methods Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses Overview

Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses: Overview

The Injuries, Illnesses, and Fatalities (IIF) program provides annual information on the incidence rate and number of work-related injuries, illnesses, and fatal injuries, and how these statistics vary by incident, industry, geography, occupation, and other characteristics. These data are collected through the Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses (SOII) and the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI).

SOII is an establishment-based survey used to estimate incidence rates and counts of workplace injuries and illnesses. It also provides more detailed case and demographic data for cases that involve one or more days away from work (DAFW) and for days of job transfer and restriction (DJTR) for select industries.
