Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages

Corrected 2013 annual average CSV files

Tuesday, September 30, 2014

On Tuesday, September 30, 2014 the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages released updated CSV files containing annual averages for 2013. Effective with this update, all QCEW data sources now provide correct annual average pay data for 2013. The updated set of CSV files contain corrected annual average pay values. The corrected 2013 annual average CSV archives can be accessed from the Data Download section, the QCEW Data Viewer, the QCEW Industry Tables, and the Open Data Access files.

The previous set of CSV files representing 2013 annual averages was removed from the BLS web site after 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014 because annual average pay was incorrect in by a factor of 10. ($57,000 was shown as $5,700.) This was the only incorrect field within the CSV files.

This error did not appear in other QCEW products such as the ENB text files, the County High-Level files, the Location Quotient Calculator, the State and County Map, and Create Customized Tables. The correct 2013 annual average data from these sources remained available to the public.
