Emily L. Liddel, Associate Commissioner for Publications and Special Studies

Emily L. LiddelEmily L. Liddel became the Associate Commissioner for the Office of Publications and Special Studies in 2021. Ms. Liddel began her career at BLS in 2000 in the Current Employment Statistics program as a national analyst. She spent a year in the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey before returning to Current Employment Statistics as a supervisor. In 2009, Ms. Liddel moved to the Office of Publications and Special Studies to lead the New Media division. In 2011, Ms. Liddel became the division chief of Publishing Services. Ms. Liddel has worked to modernize BLS publications, invigorate writing, and bolster BLS communications.

Ms. Liddel earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Indiana University, a master’s degree in applied economics from the Johns Hopkins University, and a certificate in executive leadership from American University.
