Workplace homicides declined in 2006

From 2005 to 2006, workplace homicides decreased 9 percent, to 516.
The 2006 figure was the lowest annual homicide total ever reported by the fatality census. Overall, workplace homicides have decreased more than 50 percent from the series high in 1994.
The Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries, part of the BLS Injuries, Illnesses, and Fatalities program, provides the most complete count of fatal work injuries available. The total for 2001 excludes work-related fatalities that resulted from the September 11 terrorist attacks, which were tabulated separately.
