Annual average rate of job openings 5.7 percent in 2023, compared to 6.8 percent in 2022

In 2023, the annual average job openings level was 9.4 million, a decrease of 1.8 million from 2022. The annual average job openings rate—that is, job openings as a percent of total employment plus job openings—was 5.7 percent in 2023, compared to 6.8 percent in 2022.
