Thomas Nardone

Thomas Nardone serves as Associate Commissioner for Employment and Unemployment Statistics. From 2004 until September 2011, Mr. Nardone served as Assistant Commissioner for Current Employment Analysis, where he directed four major statistical programs: the Current Population Survey (CPS), Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS) program, the Mass Layoff Statistics (MLS) program, and the American Time Use Survey (ATUS). These programs provide much of the basic information available about national, state, and local labor markets. The CPS, for example, is the source of the national unemployment rate.

Mr. Nardone served as the Chief of the Division of Labor Force Statistics from 1997 to 2004 and in a variety of positions in the Office of Employment and Unemployment Statistics from 1976 to 1997.

Mr. Nardone holds a B.A. in economics from King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
